CAIRO, September 10 (RIA Novosti) - The conference of the donor-countries for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Gaza Strip, ravaged by the recent conflict with Israel, will be held in Cairo on October 12, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said.
According to some local media reports, the Palestinians have already been promised the opening of border crossings and expansion of the coastal waters of the Mediterranean Sea, where fishing is allowed. All previous ceasefire agreements were limited in time and unconditional in nature, with no compromises expected until the completion of the peace talks.
On August 26, Israel agreed to an indefinite ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where it had been carrying its Operation Protective Edge for 50 days. During the operation, the Palestinians lost more than 2,100 people, 11,000 were wounded, and about 100,000 were left homeless.
