MOSCOW, September 10 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian-based RT television news channel is now available to over 700 million television viewers worldwide, the channel’s press service said Wednesday.
“The television channel RT, which has become a finalist in the prestigious Emmy International awards for the third time, is available around the clock to more than 700 million viewers across the world (not including those who have access to RT through mobile platforms and Smart TV). The considerable growth of potential viewers is primarily due to a significant increase in the number of operators broadcasting RT in Latin America,” the channel stated in a press release.
Since the beginning of the year, the RT audience has increased in countries such as Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico. In March, RT Spanish was named the Best Television Channel, Informational Resource and Multimedia Platform by the Mexican Press Club. It is set to become the first foreign free-to-air channel in Argentina.
RT is a Moscow-based, international TV network, broadcasting in English, Spanish and Arabic in over 100 countries worldwide. RT America, which focuses on US News, broadcasts from its own studio in Washington. In addition, the network has its own documentary channel RTDoc and owns the full-service video news agency RUPTLY.
RT was the first news television channel to break the 1 billion views mark on YouTube and is the only Russian TV channel to become a three-time finalist in the run for an Emmy Award in the news section.
