SEVASTOPOL, September 12 (RIA Novosti) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who still owns Sevastopol Marine Plant (SMP), has put it up for sale, acting Sevastopol governor told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"The main problem is the Sevastopol Marine Plant [formerly known as imeni Sergo Ordzhonikidze No. 201]. The inventory process is currently in progress; the company's debts to the city are being specified. The owner [Poroshenko] has put it up for sale," Sergei Menyailo said.
The official also said that representatives of the United Shipbuilding Corporation plant had already demonstrated their interest in the plant.
"We are considering the issue of integrated ship repair. For some workshops of the SMP, our program provides the possibility of adding a 13th plant," Menyailo said.
In Sevastopol, there are three shipyards – the 13th and the 92th of the Russian Defense Ministry, as well as the former Sevastopol Marine Plant, which is owned by billionaire Petro Poroshenko.
