MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian team won the seventh game in a row in the FIVB Men’s Championship on Friday in Wroclaw, Poland, R Sport reports.
The Russian team defeated Cuba in the second qualifying leg of the championship in group F with a score 3:1 (25:18, 23:25, 25:15, 25:19). The highest scoring Russian players of the match were Dmitriy Ilinikh (17 points), Nikolai Pavlov (16) and Dmitriy Muserskiy (16).
The Russian team, trained by Andrei Voronkov, took second place in the group stage, losing 1 point to Brazil. On September 13, the Russians will play against Germany.
The Russians are the reigning Olympic champions (London 2012), European championship winners (2013) and a three time winner of the World league (2002, 2011, 2013), however they have not won a world championship yet.
