MOSCOW, September 14 (RIA Novosti) - British Prime Minister David Cameron has called the execution of journalist David Haines by the Islamic State (IS) militants "an act of pure evil" and promised to do everything to catch the killers and submit them to the court.
"My heart goes out to his family, who have shown extraordinary courage and fortitude. We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes," Cameron wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this day, a video of the execution of a British citizen David Haines by the IS has appeared on the website of the Search for International Terrorist Entities (SITE) Institute, which monitors the activity of Islamic terrorists on the Internet. The organization was the first to confirm the execution of US journalist Steven Sotloff. The authenticity of the latest video has not yet been confirmed.
David Haines, a 44-year-old British citizen, was captured in Syria in 2013. According to The Guardian, Haynes had been on a humanitarian mission in Syria only for three days at the time of the abduction. The British newspaper said that the video appeared on the Internet in just a day after the Haines family asked the militants to contact them.
The militants also vowed to execute another British citizen, Alan Henning.
On September 2, the IS posted a video, showing the execution of US journalist Steven Sotloff, who was captured in Syria in August 2013 shortly after he crossed the border with Turkey.
Another US journalist, James Foley went missing in Syria in November 2012 while covering the country's civil war. On August 19, the IS released a video of him being beheaded by a militant with a strong British accent.
The IS called Foley's death revenge for US airstrikes against militants in Iraq and warned that Sotloff, who had been kidnapped in August 2013, would be the next hostage to be killed if the attacks continued.
