KIEV, September 14 (RIA Novosti) -The exchange of war prisoners between the Donbas militia and Kiev's forces will take place on Sunday, the press service representative of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Vladimir Polevoy said.
"Efforts are constantly being made to exchange the detained and the prisoners. Another swap will take place today," Polevoy said during a briefing on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, Daria Morozova, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic's (DPR's) Committee on War Prisoners Exchange, also confirmed that the prisoner swap with the Kiev government forces will be held on Sunday in "65 for 65" format and that the lists of prisoners to be exchanged are finalized.
Daria Morozova said earlier that DPR self-defense forces on Friday handed over 36 Ukrainian personnel that had been held on the republic's territory during Kiev's military operation in eastern Ukraine. In its turn, the Ukrainian government freed 31 prisoners.
The swaps follow the groundbreaking ceasefire agreement in Belarus's capital Minsk on September 5 when the sides agreed to exchange all prisoners and open humanitarian corridors. Negotiators were building on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's peace plan for resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as on Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals.
