KOKTEBEL, September 14 (RIA Novosti), Nadezhda Kulikova – Things that you see on TV about Russia and Crimea are very different from reality, Kenny Davis, a member of Ivan Formakovskiy jazz quartet told RIA Novosti Sunday.
"I admit that you see things on TV at home. And when Ivan asked me [to participate in Koktebel Jazz Party], I said "Are you sure?", but I am happy arriving here… I have been in Russia several times, I am proud to be here," Davis said.
Other members of the quartet said they did not know much about the Crimean peninsula and the political situation around it and have never been in this part of Russia before, but did not hesitate to come to Koktebel to participate in the international jazz festival.
Koktebel Jazz Party is an international festival organized by Rossiya Segodnya Information Agency with support from Russia's Ministry of Culture. Hosted by Crimea's coastal village of Koktebel on September 12-15, the festival unites music lovers and big names in jazz music from all over the world.
Located on the beach, the festival's open-air stages provide live music by performers from all over the world, making Koktebel Jazz Party Crimea's first international high-profile event since its reunification with Russia in mid-March.
