MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti) – A court in the central Russian city of Voronezh on Monday declined a motion to release on bail Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who is tried in Russia over her suspected role in the killing of two Russian reporters in Ukraine.

“The court ruled to uphold a lower-instance court ruling and to reject the motion filed by the defense,” the judge said.

Last week, the Ukrainian government has put Nadezhda Savchenko on its list of captives to be released under the "all-for-all" prisoner exchange deal agreed with independence supporters on September 5 in Minsk during the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine.

On September 9, met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk asked Amnesty International's Secretary General Salil Shetty for assistance in releasing Savchenko.

Nadezhda Savchenko is currently in custody in Voronezh. Russian investigative officers claim that she was a fire spotter during a mortar attack near the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk on June 17. As a result of the attack, two Russian journalists, Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin, were fatally wounded.
