ROSTOV-ON-DON, September 16 (RIA Novosti) - Dud munition from Uragan and Smerch multiple rocket launchers has been found in Russia's Rostov region, close to the Ukrainian border, the regional department for emergencies prevention and liquidation said Tuesday.
"Dud rockets from Smerch multiple rocket launching systems have been found two kilometers [1.4 miles] away from the village of Mityakinskaya. Also, four Uragan multiple rocket launching system duds have been found 800 meters [874 yards] east of the Krasnodarsky village. The area where the highly explosive objects were found has been secured and requests for demining have been proceeded," the body said.
Dud munitions supposedly belonging to Ukrainian government forces are frequently found in Russia's Rostov region, bordering Ukraine's embattled Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Earlier in September, the Rostov regional emergency service also reported finding unexploded Grad and Uragan multiple rocket launchers" rockets in close proximity to the border.
