MOSCOW, September 16 (RIA Novosti) – South Koreans can be arrested for carrying North Korean flags at the Asian Games, which are due to start in Incheon, South Korea, on September 19, according to reports published Tuesday.
"We've been ordered to check at security screening if anyone is carrying North Korean flags into a venue, and confiscate them immediately," Agence France-Presse quoted an organizing committee spokesman as saying.
National security laws ban South Koreans from activities that could be seen as supporting North Korea’s regime.
The Asian Games, also known as the Asiad, is a pancontinental multi-sport event held every four years among Asian athletes. The games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. The upcoming Asian Games will be held in Incheon from September 19 to October 4.
