BRUSSELS, September 17 (RIA Novosti) – Luxemburg is closely following the criminal case against the main shareholder of Russia's AFK Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov, who is also Luxemburg's Honorary Consul in Yekaterinburg, a source in Luxemburg's Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti Wednesday.
"He is our Honorary Consul. Our services are closely following the case," the source said, requesting anonymity and declining any further comments.
Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov was arrested Tuesday over his suspected involvement in money-laundering. Prosecutors are investigating Sistema's acquisition of shares in Russia's Bashkortostan Republic's oil company.
A court ruling means that Yevtushenkov is obliged to stay under house arrest until November 16. However, this decision had not yet come into force, and Yevtushenkov's lawyers have three days to appeal it.
