KIEV, September 17 (RIA Novosti) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine unanimously approved the implementation plan for the EU association agreement Wednesday.
“We need to complete the implementation [of the EU Association Agreement], and the sooner the better. Application and EU membership [will follow],” Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko signed the agreement into law Tuesday minutes after it was ratified in a simultaneous procedure by the parliaments of Ukraine and the European Union.
At the September 12 meeting held in Brussels among Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission, the sides agreed to postpone the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement until December 31, 2015.
Thus, Brussels agreed to extend the term of a privileged access for Ukrainian goods to EU markets beginning November 1, 2014, but will delay the implementation of the free trade zone agreement, which involves free import of EU-made goods into Ukraine, until December 31, 2015.
