EDINBURGH, September 19 (RIA Novosti) – The council region of Edinburgh has finished voting in the Scottish independence referendum, with 61.1 percent having voted against secession from the United Kingdom, and 38.9 percent having voted for it.
In total, 194,638 "NO" votes and 123,927 "YES" votes were cast in the council area. The turnout in Edinburgh was 84.4 percent.
The council region of Aberdeenshire has also voted against Scotland's independence. 60.4 percent of Aberdeenshire voters said "NO" to Scotland's separation from the United Kingdom, while 39.6 percent said "YES".
In the council area of Fife, 55 percent voted "NO", while 45 percent voted "YES".
In Argyll and Bute 58.5 percent voted against independence, while 41.5 percent voted for it.
Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, has opted for Scottish independence.
