MOSCOW, September 19 (RIA Novosti) – Glasgow police is probing allegations of electoral fraud at Scotland independence referendum, according to reports made in the early hours of Friday.
At least ten cases of impersonation, where people pretend to be someone else, cast the vote, then the real person turned up to vote, were reported in Glasgow, Sky News channel reported citing local officials.
At 10 p.m. local time (9:00 GMT), referendum polls closed at 5,579 voting stations in 32 councils across Scotland, with official results expected to be announced between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. local time on Friday.
In the early hours of Friday, Sky News reported that turnout in Dundee, Scotland's fourth-largest city after Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, reached an unprecedented 90 percent. Glasgow, the biggest city of Scotland, is 87 percent, East Lothian is 79,7 percent.
First results are expected to come in tonight, with the biggest bulk of running totals appearing between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
A final poll by YouGov showed that 54 percent of the voters chose for Scotland to stay as part of the United Kingdom.
If the majority of Scots votes for independence, then on March 24, 2016 Scotland will secede from the United Kingdom.
