MINSK, September 20 (RIA Novosti) – Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Alexander Zakharchenko said Saturday that no elections, announced earlier by Ukrainian authorities, would be held on the DPR territory.
"No Ukrainian elections will be held on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic," Zakharchenko stressed.
The sides of the Ukrainian conflict met in the Belurussian capital Minsk on September 19 for talks, mediated by Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). During the previous round of negotiations, conducted on September 5, the so-called Contact Group agreed on a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, as well as a number of issues related to the status of the Donetsk and Luhansk self-proclaimed republics. Earlier on Friday, the sides signed a memorandum on measures to ensure the implementation of the September 5 deal.
