MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Islamic State has released a message calling on its supporters to kill citizens of the countries involved in US operations against the jihadist group, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported Monday.
"If you can kill a disbelieving American or European -- especially the spiteful and filthy French -- or an Australian, or a Canadian... including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him," Abu Mohammed Adnani, the violent Sunni group's spokesman, said in a message released in English, French and Hebrew.
According to AFP, the IS is currently regarded as the most violent and powerful jihadist group. It has executed hundreds of Iraqis and Syrians in addition to notoriously filming the execution of American and British hostages.
On September 10, US President Barack Obama unveiled his strategy for defeating the Islamic State which includes the establishment of an international anti-IS coalition. The president also authorized US airstrikes against IS positions in Syria, while simultaneously continuing airstrikes in Iraq, which were launched by the country in August.
"Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him," the IS spokesman instructed in the message.
"O America, O allies of America, and O crusaders, know that the matter is more dangerous than you have imagined and greater than you have envisioned," Adnani added.
The IS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) or Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), has been fighting the Syrian government since 2012. In June 2014, it launched an offensive in Iraq seizing territories in both countries, proclaiming an Islamic caliphate over its conquered land. The jihadist group has killed thousands of Shiites, Christians, and Yazidis, and forced thousands of people to flee territories under the group's control.
