MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti), Daria Chernyshova — Deutsche Bank AG believes that the allegations against its co-chief executive Juergen Fitschen who has been charged with attempted fraud in Germany, will prove unfounded, the bank’s press service told RIA Novosti in an emailed statement, but declined to comment on the ongoing litigation.
"It is Deutsche Bank's policy not to comment on ongoing litigation. We refer, instead, to our previous statements underlining our belief that the allegation against Jürgen Fitschen will prove unfounded,” Deutsche Bank’s statement emailed to RIA Novosti on Tuesday reads.
German prosecutors pressed charges against Fitschen and former board members on Tuesday over alleged false court testimony in the bank's legal battle with the heirs of former media mogul Leo Kirch.
Fitschen is accused of failing to correct false statements made by former board members and Deutsche Bank lawyers in hearings connected to the legal dispute.
If convicted, the bank’s executives face jail terms of between 6 months and 10 years.
