MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - The growth of the Internet has led to increasing attempts by governments to censor the Web, the Organization for Security and Co-operation (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic said Tuesday via her Twitter account.
"The growth of the Internet has also encouraged governments to censor what we say online," the official said in an address to the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2014, as quoted in the tweet.
Mijatovic also added that she will publicly denounce any form of violence against journalists and abuse of media for propaganda purposes.
The Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, is Europe's largest annual conference on democracy and human rights. Warsaw is the host of this year's meeting, which is scheduled for September 22 – October 3.
