MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) - "Divide and rule" formula of world leadership that the US has been following in its global policy in the recent decades is deeply outdated, new paradigm of global development is needed, the Russian diplomat said Wednesday.
"It's high time to replace "divide and rule" formula with "unite and lead" – by setting an example contributing to the harmonization of interests of all the nations and peoples. Unless the world's development paradigm is changed, our civilization is doomed," Vladimir Lebedenko, deputy head of the Department for Relations of Federal Entities, the Parliament and Public Associations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told RIA Novosti.
According to the official, the current political situation in many regions proves that the US has failed to fit with the status of the global leader that it acquired after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
"Global crisis that the world faced at the turn of 21st century has been the crisis of global leadership and current liberal world development model based on consumerism and industrialism. US has failed to bear the world leader's responsibility and fell for the temptation of permissiveness, presenting its own power as the power of international law," the deputy head of the Department for Relations of Federal Entities noted.
He explained that the "doctrine of controlled chaos" that the US has been following in its policy in certain countries, such as Iraq, Syria and Egypt, has upset the whole system of international relations, undermined state and cultural basics in these countries and unleashed neo-Nazi tendencies around the world, which is currently manifest in Ukraine. With the high level of technological development today, risks of any war jeopardize the whole humanity and "are equal to its suicide".
Russian diplomat emphasized that the new paradigm for global leadership should be based on the ideas of unity and global community. "It's time for the humanity to perceive itself as a single family of nations, in which the eldest and the strongest help those who are younger and weaker. It's time for us to think of ourselves as of "People of Earth", not just Russians, Jews or Americans".
Answering to the question of who could become the new adequate leaders, official made an assumption that American Republicans and certain forces in other key countries including Russia may take on this role.
"If the world was put on the verge of war as a result of the US attempts to impose its perspective globally, it is logical to hope that it is in the US where new, healthy forces may be found, especially among the Republicans, - those forces that are capable to put an end to the current chaos unleashed by the Democrats" administration and to present a constructive alternative to America and the whole world. Without a doubt, such healthy forces will find support in many countries, including Russia".
"Status of the world leader cannot be bought; it can only be deserved for actions in the interests of the whole humanity. Such American leadership would be supported universally, paving the way to a new, more just world order," the diplomat concluded.
