Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Justice to sign extradition agreements with Laos and Sri Lanka, according to a statement published on Russia's official website of legal information on Wednesday.

MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Justice to sign extradition agreements with Laos and Sri Lanka, according to a statement published on Russia's official website of legal information on Wednesday.

Treaty with Laos involves the transfer of a wanted person for prosecution or execution of sentence at the request of the second state, and the agreement with Sri Lanka - the transfer of convicts to imprisonment.

Documents will be signed as soon as agreement is reached, and the Russian Ministry of Justice has the right to make nonessential changes in the project approved by the federal government.

According to the website of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Russia currently has bilateral extradition agreements with nearly 30 countries, including such Asian countries on the list as China, India, Mongolia, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam.
