MOSCOW, September 25 (RIA Novosti) - Kiev is unable to guarantee safe access for the international investigation team to the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash site, so Malaysia does not rule out the possibility of holding negotiations with the independence supporters to allow safe passage, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said after his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Malaysia's governmental news agency Bernama reported Thursday.
"The communication line is still open but we have to be mindful of the sensitivity of Kiev," Najib was quoted as saying by Bernama after being asked about the possibility of holding talks with the independence supporters in southeastern Ukraine.
It was the first meeting between Razak Najim and Arseniy Yatsenyuk after the plane crash in eastern Ukraine. The meeting was held late Wednesday on the initiative of Yatsenyuk.
On July 17, a Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in Ukraine's eastern region of Donetsk, killing all 298 people on board.
On September 9, the Dutch Safety Board issued a preliminary report on the MH17 crash, saying that the Malaysia Airlines flight broke up in the air probably as the result of structural damage caused by a large number of high-energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from the outside. The full report on the MH17 crash will be published within a year, as soon as more details become available following a better investigation of the crash site.
However, full access to the crash site is still problematic, despite the holding ceasefire in Ukraine's eastern regions as a result of the September 5 Contact Group talks in Minsk. Kiev and the militia have been consistently accusing each other of the ceasefire regime violation.
