UNITED NATIONS, September 27 (RIA Novosti) - The work on the agreement on Iran's nuclear program must be carried out faster and consider the interests of the Iranian people, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday.
"We have to move faster, considering current situation and reach a final agreement. It will be beneficial for achieving greater stability in the region," Rouhani said.
The leader of the Islamic Republic also stressed that the agreement between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group must serve the interests of all parties, including the Iranian people.
"We need agreements, beneficial for both sides, which would also take into account rights of Iranian people," Rouhani said.
On Wednesday, the P5+1 group of international mediators, which includes Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany, met with the Iranian delegation in New York to discuss Iranian nuclear program, but failed to reach an agreement with Tehran on any of the key issues.
The West accuses Tehran of working on a nuclear weapon under the guise of a civilian nuclear program – claims, repeatedly denied by the Iranian authorities. At a meeting, held in November 2013 in Geneva, Iran and the P5+1 group agreed to reach a long-term nuclear agreement by July 2014. The deadline was later moved to November 2014.
