MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) – European railroad companies have continued to cooperate with Russian Railways amid sanctions and despite serious political pressure, the head of the Russia’s railroad monopoly Vladimir Yakunin told RIA Novosti.
"Within the railroad community everything goes in a really friendly and benevolent manner. No tensions have ever arisen inside the railroad community and are not arising now. Even though they are under serious pressure. I know for a fact that the ministries of foreign affairs of the European countries are beginning to put a blame on them because they work actively with Russian Railways," Yakunin said.
Yakunin added, that he continues to receive letters and telegrams from his foreign colleagues, congratulating the company on contract extensions.
"For example, I received such [congratulation] letter from the head of the French railways and the head of Siemens. And why shouldn't it be so? We have a joint venture with Siemens, and they invested a large sum of money," Yakunin said.
