LUHANSK, September 27 (RIA Novosti) - A ceasefire regime between independence supporters in eastern Ukraine and Kiev forces is generally holding, prisoner exchange process continues, head of Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) Igor Plotnitsky told journalists on Saturday.

"There have been no serious clashes [over the past days], there have been misunderstandings caused by various provocations… everyone adheres to the memorandum, which we signed," Plotnitsky said.

Plotnitsky also confirmed that the prisoners exchange process goes ahead as planned.

"The prisoners exchange became a process of agreements. We agreed on something, then we made it. As far as I am aware of, there have been no excesses, everything is normal," he added.

On September 5, the Contact Group on Ukraine, comprising representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), had a meeting in the Belarusian capital of Minsk. The sides signed a 12-point protocol that among other things entails the adoption by Ukraine of a law on special status for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As a result of the meeting, the representatives of Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of Luhansk and Donetsk agreed to a ceasefire.

Another round of talks among the group's members, held in Minsk last week, resulted in the adoption of a nine-point memorandum, specifying the ceasefire.
