SANA'A, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Militants on motorcycles killed two traffic police officers in the Yemeni city of Ta'izz on Sunday, a local police source told RIA Novosti.
"Armed [militants] fired at a police patrol in front of a school . . . After that they hastily fled the scene," a local police officer told RIA Novosti.
The attack could have been carried out by al-Qaeda associates, the policeman believes.
The situation in Yemen has been tense, following a change of power in 2011. Despite the government's efforts to stabilize the situation, the Ansar al-Sharia group, also known as the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), systematically carries out attacks across the country.
