NEW YORK, September 29 (RIA Novosti) — UN has denied the report that its Secretary General Ban Ki-moon received an invitation and may visit North Korea, according to the UN press service's statement Monday.
The reports, mentioning the letter of Kim Jong- un, the head of North Korea, that was handed over to Ban Ki-moon, appeared on Saturday.
"There has been some speculation that the letter contains substantive issues, including an invitation to the Secretary-General to visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Such speculation is totally groundless," the UN press service's statement read.
North Korean Foreign Minister handed Kim Jong — un's letter to Ban Ki-moon at the 69th UN General Assembly session in New York. In his letter Kim Jong — un thanked the Secretary-General for the message that Ban Ki-moon had sent recently on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Founding of the DPRK.
