MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - A 58-year-old Sydney elementary school teacher has been arrested for possession and sharing of child pornography online, ABC news reports.
The police said the man had posted pornography pictures on an internet site observed by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). "CEIU detectives in Sydney subsequently commenced an investigation to determine who was responsible for uploading the material," a police officer said.
According to Australian security services, the man worked in a Catholic school, located in the south-western part of Australia’s capital. He was arrested after the police searched his house and found several suspicious electronic devices, as stated by the Sydney Morning Herald.
The suspect has been allowed to stay home on conditional bail until a court’s hearing on October, 21.
The Australian law strictly prohibits possession, use and publishing of photos and videos, depicting sexual abuse of children under the age of 18. Violations are punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
