STRASBOURG, October 1 (RIA Novosti), Daria Chernyshova – British member of the PACE Mike Hancock on Wednesday accused the EU of manufacturing the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, which it then blamed on Russia.

"I find it absolutely despicable that the EU in particular did much to manufacture the crisis in the first place, has totally ignored the humanitarian crisis in the Ukrainian state," Hancock said adding that Ukrainians in the war zone have little hope and suffer from dire humanitarian conditions.

"What are they saying? They are blaming Russia, but very little help to the people on the floor. There is no help to the people in Ukraine who are suffering," Mike Hancock said at the PACE debate on the crisis in Ukraine.

"And at the end of the day – who are we to say… that they cannot make decisions for themselves and walk out? We had that vote recently in the UK, where the people of Scotland were given an opportunity to decide for themselves. And thankfully they chose to stay within the United Kingdom," Hanckock noted.

Hanckock added that if Scotland had decided to walk out of the United Kingdom, its choice would have been respected. He also stressed that the issue of self-determination has been on the rise across Europe.

"We need to find a remedy for doing it [confronting self-determination]. What we cannot do is ignore all the players," Hancock concluded.

Scottish voters took part in a referendum on independence on September 18 and opted to remain the part of the UK. Nevertheless, the referendum in Scotland is now seen as the main reason pushing Europe's secessionists to expand their independence movements.
