STRASBOURG, October 1 (RIA Novosti), Daria Chernyshova – The head of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurria has urged governments to use economic measures that yield long-term results, rather than focusing on solutions that only bring immediate relief.
"Today, ladies and gentlemen, the medium in the long-term are the only way. And the politicians have to bridge the gap between the short-term and the results by explaining to the people what it is that we are trying to do, so that they understand," Angel Guria said Wednesday speaking at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
"Let's forget about the next short-term election, let's look at the medium in the long-term," he urged.
"This is the only way to go," Gurria stressed, adding that education, innovation, long-term investment programs and infrastructure development should be the primary focus in the current economic situation.
The Parliamentary Assembly's fall session takes place in Strasbourg from September 29 to October 3, 2014.
