MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) – According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the median income in Russia is approximately 32,000 rubles ($802 USD) per month; however, there are fewer high-paying jobs, as the market needs more low specialization service workers, Gleb Lebedev, research director at recruitment agency HeadHunter, told Moscow24 News.
“The market needs more sales personnel, for example cashiers, salesmen and so-called blue-collar workers. There is a shortage among these professions”, Lebedev said.
The expert also mentioned that recent sanctions imposed on Russia have not had any effect on the Russian market, Moscow24 News said.
Only military personnel earn high enough salaries to somewhat compete with top managers, who are the biggest earners in Russia. Military contractors with higher education can earn as much as 80,000 rubles ($2,000) per months, not counting various allowances.
Women, on average, earn three quarters less than men, according to Rosstat.
The research showed that about 15 million Russians do not receive official salaries.
Maksim Reshetnikov, the head of the Department of Economic Policy, stated that the average salary in Moscow reached 55,000 rubles ($1,380) per month. Reshetnikov added that about ten percent of Muscovites get more than 200,000 rubles ($5,015) per month. The highest salaries were recorded in the government sector, followed by large banks and corporations. Top managers of Gazprom, Sberbank and Rosneft, in particular, had the highest salaries in the city, according to Moscow24 News.
