MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) – Security forces have clashed with militants in Russia’s Dagestan Republic on Monday.
The fighting took place in the village Kirovaul in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a local law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.
“A house with the militants was blocked off and the fighting took place. According to a preliminary statement, there are victims on both sides” the source said.
The exact number of casualties is yet to be known.
Last week, three militants were killed in a special operation in a village Vremenny in central Dagestan, APA News reported.
Since the second war against Islamist separatists came to an end in 2000, Russian law enforcement agents have continued fighting militants in Dagestan.
