KIEV, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - A humanitarian convoy from Germany, which has entered Ukraine from Poland on Tuesday, is expected to arrive in Kiev Tuesday night, and the aid will be distributed and sent to the Ukrainian regions by October 12, Ukraine's UNIAN news agency reported Tuesday, citing the deputy head of the country's Fiscal Service.

"We are expecting the convoy to arrive today, late this evening, or, possibly, tomorrow morning," the deputy head of Ukraine's Fiscal Service, Anatoly Makarenko said, adding that according to the information at his disposal, "by October 12 all the cargo will have been distributed and sent to the respective cities."

According to Makarenko, the German humanitarian aid will be sent to Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Lviv.

Makarenko also said, that he does not rule out the possibility of the second German humanitarian convoy to Ukraine.

Following the initiative by German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Mueller, the German government has sent 740 tons of humanitarian aid from 17 German cities to Ukraine. The convoy is carrying construction materials, heaters, blankets and folding beds, according to the Spiegel magazine.

In April, Kiev forces started a military operation against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, which according to UN figures claimed the lives of over 3,600 people and left 8,500 injured.

Due to the conflict, Ukraine's southeastern regions witnessed a severe humanitarian catastrophe, as many citizens have struggled without clean water, electricity and other basic necessities.

On September 5, a ceasefire agreement was reached at a Contact Group meeting in Minsk. The opposing sides have repeatedly accused one another of violating the truce, although the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said the ceasefire was generally holding.
