MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) – At least 324 people have been wounded and one person was killed as a result of a 6.6-magnitude earthquake in China's southwestern Yunnan Province, Xinhua reported Wednesday.
A total of 92,700 people in the Jinggu County, where the epicenter of the earthquake was located, were affected with over 56,000 of them having been relocated, Xinhua reported, citing China's Publicity Department.
The earthquake took place on Tuesday, at 9:49 p.m. Beijing time (13:49 GMT) and prompted Yunnan authorities to initiate a Class-1 emergency response, according to Xinhua.
Tremor was felt across the entire Yunnan province, which has a population of 290,000.
In August, the Yunnan province was hit by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake, resulting in the death of over 600 people. More than 2,400 were wounded and over 240,000 were evacuated.
