WASHINGTON, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - A US district court on Wednesday sentenced Russian national Dmitry Ustinov to 18 months in prison for allegedly plotting to export military equipment, the US Department of Justice said.
The 53-year-old was arrested in Lithuania in 2013 on US request and later extradited to the United States. He reportedly pleaded guilty of allegedly plotting to export 17 items of night-vision and thermal imaging equipment used by the US military.
Prosecutors at the US district court in Wilmington, Delaware, made a case to prove that Ustinov set up a front company and used false labeling to mislead US customs officials and export military technologies.
Under the court's ruling, Ustinov will be deported from the United States after serving the 18-month prison term.
