MOSCOW, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev told RIA Novosti on Friday that he has left hospital and is back at work.
“Now I am out of hospital,” Gorbachev said. Answering a question about how he is feeling, the former Soviet leader stated that “well” would be an overstatement.
“If I could reach the party assessment of ‘satisfactory’, that would be great. I have arrived at work, that is already not bad,” he said.
Gorbachev was hospitalized Thursday due to a "disease recurrence".
Mikhail Gorbachev was the first and last president of the Soviet Union. He announced his resignation in December 1991, after 11 of the former Soviet republics had established the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), effectively dismantling the USSR.
In recent years, the former Soviet leader has often received medical treatment in Germany. He suffers from a severe form of diabetes.
