UNITED NATIONS, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - The United Nations' Security Council on Friday unanimously agreed to a press statement, condemning the bombing which has killed at least 47 people in Sanaa, Yemen and reiterating support for Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
The United Nation's Security Council condemns "the continued attacks against Yemeni security forces in Hadramawt on October 9, as well as in Bayda on October 8, aimed at undermining Yemen's stability," the statement said.
The Security Council underlined the need "to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice," and urged all states to cooperate with the Yemeni authorities in this regard.
Along with calling for accountability for those responsible for what it has called terrorist acts, the Security Council emphasized that the political transition in Yemen must move forward, and reiterated its support for President Hadi. The organization has called on all parties "to work constructively to implement fully and promptly all terms of the Peace and National Partnership Agreement in its entirety, including turning over all medium and heavy weapons to legitimate State security bodies."
At least 47 people have been killed and dozens wounded in a suicide bomb attack at a massive Houthi gathering in the Yemen's capital Sanaa on Thursday. Later that day, an investigative commission to find those responsible for the tragedy was set up by the country's president Hadi.
Yemen is currently in a state of turmoil, with the Houthi Shia insurgent group controlling the entrances into Sanaa, as well as many residential buildings in the city.
The Houthis have accused the incumbent government in Sanaa of discrimination against Shiites and have been carrying out protests against the government since mid-August, calling for economic and political reform.
