DONETSK, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - The election of the heads of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics will be held on November 2, the central election commissions of LPR and DPR said Saturday.
"The situation is analyzed, the course of restoration works allows to retain the original date - the election of the head of the Republic and the people's assembly will be held on November 2," the commission said.
Earlier, the Central Election Commission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic offered to postpone the election from November 2 to November 9 because there was no time for correct preparation for the elections.
Residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk People’s republics, refusing to recognize the coup in Kiev that took place in February. Republics declared their sovereignty, basing on the results of the referendums held in May.
Kiev does not recognize Luhansk and Donetsk People’s republics. In April Kiev launched a military operation against independence supporters in the southeastern regions of the country.
