MOSCOW, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - A new round of protests against police violence has kicked off despite damp weather in the US city of Ferguson, a suburb of St.Louis.

According to protest organizers, about a thousand people have gathered near the local police station to protest what they view as a series of racially motivated shootings of African-Americans by white police officers in the region.

The protesters delivered a casket covered in mirrors to the police station, meant to represent the victims of racism and police brutality.

Police officers in riot gear are monitoring the demonstrations, which have remained peaceful so far. No arrests have been reported, though police has asked the crowds to "take a step back", protest organizers informed.

Ahead of the Ferguson protests, demonstrations took place in the city of St. Louis, where protesters clashed with police officers for two consecutive nights.

Protests are expected to continue in Ferguson until October 13. The demonstrations follow a second fatal shooting of an African-American teenager by a white St. Louis police officer. On Wednesday evening, a 32-year-old white off-duty policeman fatally shot 18-year old Vonderrit D. Meyers.

The incident took place just two months after Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was shot and killed in Ferguson by Darren Wilson, a white police officer. Brown's shooting led to massive protests, which forced Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to issue a state of emergency in the city.
