MOSCOW, October 12 (RIA Novosti) - US National Security Adviser Susan Rice has stated that the United States have no evidence of change of power in the North Korea, the leader of which has not been seen in public for a long time, NBC said Sunday.
"Obviously, we are watching very carefully what's happening in North Korea. We have not seen any indications of a transfer of power at this point in North Korea that we view as definitive. But we'll continue to watch it carefully,” Rice told NBC.
Kim Jong Un’s lengthy absence from the public eye has sparked much speculation about his health and whereabouts. Earlier, media reports suggested that the North Korean supreme leader received treatment for an ankle injury at a Pyongyang clinic and was also suffering from obesity, which along with reported binge drinking, might have caused gout.
North Korean state media, which usually report Kim’s activities in great detail, have stated that he is suffering from "discomfort."
