DONETSK, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian forces have violated the ceasefire on Monday 17 times, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) militia reported.
"The situation has not seen a substantial change and continues to remain intense. The ceasefire has been violated 17 times by the Ukrainian side. The neighborhoods of Zaichenko and Oktyabr came under fire. Four residential buildings and a shop have been destroyed. Three people have died, with seven civilians being injured," the DPR militia stated.
Besides, the DPR militia said that Ukrainian forces opened fire at the residential neighborhoods in Donetsk's Krasnogvardeysky area.
The militia had earlier reported that Ukrainian forces had attacked their positions at Donetsk airport as a result of which a militia member was killed, with five others wounded.
In April, Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation in the country's southeast, because the independence supporters refused to accept the new government that was put in power following a coup in February.
On September 5, the Trilateral Contact Group on the situation in Ukraine met in Minsk. The group included of representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). As a result of the meeting, the Kiev authorities and the self-proclaimed people's republics of Luhansk and Donetsk agreed on a ceasefire, which took effect on the day. The sides also agreed to an international monitoring, exchange of prisoners and the opening of humanitarian corridors.
