ST.PETERSBURG, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom along with a number of other Russian companies is currently developing solutions to ensure the energy supply for Arctic exploration activities, the company's deputy director general said on Monday.
"There are very interesting solutions. A working group has been created together with [the Federal Agency for Special Construction] Spetsstroy, we are currently engaging with clients – Rosneft, Gazprom," Vyacheslav Pershukov said, adding that solutions are being elaborated to ensure the energy supply for the Arctic exploration works.
According to Pershukov, the United Shipbuilding Corporation is also taking part in the project.
In recent years, Russia has begun the active economic exploration of its northern territories, including hydrocarbon extraction. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies, the total value of the natural resources in Russia's Arctic region exceeds $30 trillion. Ministry experts believe that Russian oil and gas production efforts will gradually move to the Arctic shelf.
