MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - The results of probes that would be carried out by Western non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on the cases of mass graves in southeastern Ukraine's Donetsk, won't be accurate and objective, Director at Principal Asset Management Eric Kraus told RIA Novosti in a Monday interview.

Answering a question whether the probe's results would be objective, Kraus said "Probably not. I would be somewhat surprised if the pro-Western NGOs were allowed to write anything to critical concerning the Poroshenko government."

"You would note that the equally egregious massacre at Odessa has evoked no interest whatsoever on behalf of the European institutions – and there is ample video evidence available," he added.

On May 2, clashes in Odessa broke out between independence supporters and football teams fans, later joined by Euromaidan activists. Pro-Kiev radicals, joined by the Right Sector militia, blocked the anti-government protesters in the House of Trade Unions and set the building on fire with Molotov cocktails. Those trapped inside had little chance of extinguishing the blaze, as fire hoses in the building were out of order. At least 48 people died, and over 200 were injured. Local officials accused Kiev of covering up the actual death toll of at least 116.

Kraus believes a certain political agenda of the West makes it turn a blind eye to the mass graves case. "If they must publicly announce that the Kiev Regime has been committing serious human-rights offenses, then it becomes far more difficult to continue with the party line that Russia is the aggressor, and that the poor Ukrainian government is free and democratic."

"Democratic governments do not carry out wholesale murder against their own citizens," the political commentator said.

As for the United States, Kraus said "The Americans, in particular, do not care very much for Ukraine or the Ukrainians – except for use as a pawn in a geopolitical game, aimed at Russia".

On September 23, several mass graves with over 400 bodies of civilians and independence supporters, apparently killed execution-style, were found northeast of Donetsk.

Independence supporters of southeastern Ukraine claim that the massacre was carried out by Ukraine’s National Guard fighters, who had stayed in the area since April, when Kiev launched its military operation in the region. Ukrainian authorities have denied the accusation.
