MOSCOW, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - The annual International Forum for Challenges of Peace Operations has convened in Beijing, China, Xinhua reported Tuesday.
The forum opened on Tuesday and is scheduled to last three days. According to the newspaper, the forum will bring together 120 experts from 30 countries to discuss issues related to peacekeeping.
The forum is jointly organized by the Chinese Defense Ministry and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies.
According to the newspaper, China is planning to send 700 troops to join the UN mission in South Sudan.
Xinhua also stated that China is the largest contributor of peacekeeping forces among the five UN permanent members. Over 27,000 Chinese military troops have been deployed around the world since September.
Xinhua also reported that 2,027 Chinese peacekeepers are currently deployed in conflict zones.
