The next round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 countries concerning the Iranian nuclear program will take place on Thursday, October 16, in Vienna, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton's spokesperson Michael Mann told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

VIENNA, October 14 (RIA Novosti) – The next round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 countries concerning the Iranian nuclear program will take place on Thursday, October 16, in Vienna, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton's spokesperson Michael Mann told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

Mann said that Ashton would meet with Iranian and P5+1 political directors on Thursday.

The current round of talks in Vienna is expected to focus on two largest areas of concern — Iran's uranium enrichment and the lifting of US, EU and UN sanctions against the country.

The previous round of negotiations took place in September in New York between Iran and the P5+1 group members including Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany but did not yield any results as the parties failed to agree on any of the key issues.

The West has been accusing Tehran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, though their claims have repeatedly been denied by Iranian authorities.
