WASHINGTON, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - The United States will review safety procedures for American personnel, working as part of the military mission in Saudi Arabia after one American was killed and another injured during a shooting in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the US State Department announced Tuesday.
"We are in the process of evaluating our security posture and will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all US Mission personnel," US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said.
The two men, who were employed by a US military defense contractor, working with the Saudi National Guard, were shot during an incident at a gas station near the Vinnell Arabia base about 32 kilometers (20 miles) from the US Embassy, State Department officials noted.
The State Department confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody by Saudi authorities.
The names of neither the individuals shot nor the defense contractor were released by the State Department.
