WASHINGTON, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - US President Barack Obama would like to see more significant commitment from the countries around the world to deal with the effort to resist the spread of the Ebola virus, White House spokesman said at a press-briefing.
"The president does believe that we need to see more from the international community; that we have not seen a sufficient commitment of resources and personnel from other countries to deal with this urgent situation in West Africa," Josh Earnest said on Wednesday.
The announcement came after the US president conducted a conference call with European leaders, discussing the situation with the Ebola virus.
"The President did urge those world leaders to make a more significant commitment to dealing with the Ebola outbreak in West Africa," confirmed Earnest.
The White House announced Wednesday that US President Barack Obama has postponed a scheduled trip around the country in order to hold a high-level meeting at the White House over the Ebola outbreak.
According to the WHO, almost 9,000 people are currently infected, with the disease having killed more than 4,400 so far.
