MILAN, October 17 (RIA Novosti) – A breakfast meeting with the participation of the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko, and other European leaders, has started in Milan Friday.
The event, organized by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi as part of the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit, is also attended by UK Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy.
The participants are expected to discuss Ukrainian reconciliation.
Vladimir Putin arrived in Milan on Thursday to take part in the ASEM summit and hold a number of bilateral meetings.
On Thursday, President Putin had a bilateral meeting with Chancellor Merkel during which the two leaders discussed the process of implementation of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Putin also attended a dinner hosted by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.
At the ASEM summit the leaders of more than 50 countries will discuss sustainable development, global security and the situation in Ukraine.
