MOSCOW, October 17 (RIA Novosti) - US Vice President’s son was discharged from US Navy after having failed a drug test, NDTV reports.
"It was the honor of my life to serve in the US Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge," Hunter Biden said in statement, cited by Reuters. "I respect the Navy's decision. With the love and support of my family, I'm moving forward."
Hunter Biden, the youngest son of US Vice President Joe Biden, started his military training in the US Navy in May 2013 at the age of 42. He was commissioned to reserve officer status after completing his basic officer training. One month after receiving his initial assignment, Biden tested positive for cocaine use and was discharged from the service in February 2014, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
US Vice President’s office refused to give any comments on the discharge. However, based on the fact that Vice President and his relatives frequently have expressed delight at being a military family, one can assume the drug incident must be very disappointing for all of Biden’s family members.
Currently, Hunter Biden is a managing partner at an investment company, Rosemont Seneca Partners. He is married and has three children.
