MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - Twin Peaks, David Lynch’s stylized cult hit drama series, is set to return to television in 2016 on the Showtime network, news web site Inquisitr.com reported.
The series, which ran for two seasons on America's ABC network in 1990 and 1991, centers around an FBI agent’s investigation of the murder of high school homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington.
Popular around the world, the series first gained a following in Russia in 1993 after it was broadcast by the Ostankino television channel. The series’ quality, intriguing storyline and ‘soap opera’ style, so popular in Russia at the time, resulted in a veritable “Twin Peaks mania” which continues to this day via websites and fan clubs dedicated to the series and its creator David Lynch.
