MOSCOW, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - Dozens of people have been arrested early Sunday during riots at the Pumpkin Festival in the US state of New Hampshire, CNN reported.
Multiple ambulances were sent to the riot scene, where the police used tear gas trying to disperse a crowd, which was throwing bottles and bonfires and littering the streets during the 24th annual Pumpkin Festival in the city of Keene.
"State and local public safety officials are on the scene and have been working closely together to defuse the situation," State Governor Maggie Hassan was quoted as saying by the channel.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any assistance necessary," she added.
According to the eyewitnesses, the riot was mostly provoked by students of the local college, but the management of the institution claims that other parties are also to blame for the incident.
